Engineering Manager

The platform team owns ingestion, the scoring engine, and the public API. You will inherit eight engineers, three of them senior, and a roadmap that is already funded. Your first quarter is about delivery predictability and hiring; after that you help set the technical direction.

We expect managers to stay close to the code. You will not be writing features, but you should be able to read a design doc critically and pair on a hard bug.

What we're looking for

• 2+ years managing engineers directly, including performance conversations
• 5+ years as a software engineer before management
• Experience delivering a multi-quarter roadmap with a team of six or more
• Comfortable reviewing architecture decisions for backend systems
• Track record of hiring and retaining strong engineers

Nice to have

• Managed a team through a period of fast headcount growth
• Experience with distributed systems at scale
• Has been a first-line manager at a company under 300 people
