Senior Backend Engineer

Demo Co is a 120-person B2B platform used by revenue teams at over 400 companies. Our backend group is eight engineers and owns everything behind the API boundary: ingestion, the scoring engine, billing, and the public API. We are hiring two senior engineers to lead workstreams inside that group.

You will work directly with the Engineering Manager and product to scope, design, and ship. We keep on-call humane, we write design docs before big changes, and we ship to production several times a day.

What we're looking for

• 6+ years building production backend systems
• Deep experience with a statically typed backend language (Go, Java, Rust, or similar)
• Strong relational database fundamentals, including schema design and query tuning
• Track record of owning a service in production, including on-call and incident response
• Clear written communication; you can bring others along in a design doc

Nice to have

• Experience with event streaming (Kafka, Kinesis, or Pub/Sub)
• Worked at a company between Series A and Series C
• Contributions to open-source infrastructure projects
