This is a fully onsite contract role embedded in an active automotive machining environment in Bolingbrook, IL. You will own the programming, setup, and continuous improvement of CNC lathe and mill operations—using Mastercam for toolpath development and Zoller presetters for tool qualification—while driving measurable reductions in cycle time, scrap, and rework through SPC-based process control.
The role sits at the intersection of production support and engineering rigor. You will work directly with operators, quality technicians, and tooling vendors to resolve process escapes, validate dimensional conformance on CMMs, and maintain GD&T-compliant setups on automotive parts. Your decisions on carbide tooling selection, fixture optimization, and feed/speed parameters will have direct, visible impact on throughput and first-pass yield.
This position is structured as a contract engagement, making it well-suited for an engineer who moves efficiently from process assessment to implementation without requiring extended ramp time. If you have a track record of documented cycle-time or quality improvements on Fuji or Mori Seiki platforms, you will be productive here quickly.
Contract Senior Manufacturing Engineer to own CNC process optimization and dimensional quality on automotive machined components at a Bolingbrook, IL production facility.
Responsibilities
